2016 NBA Playoff Round 2 - Game Day 8

The Raptors regained home court advantage after beating the Heat by 4 in Miami. Wade led all scorers with 38pts but was unable to overcome key clutch baskets by Lowry who had 33pts on 11-of-19 shots, including 5-of-8 3-pters. Miami were down by 13 after halftime but Wade scored 18pts in the 3rd qtr to tie the game entering the 4th qtr. Lowry gave the Raptors a 5pt lead after hitting a long 3-pter and 2 free throws with 1:34 to go. Wade assisted on a Haslem layup then drove in with a eurostep to cut the lead to 1. With 52sec to go, Wade clamped down on Lowry but he was still able to drive left and hit a stepback jumper for a 3pt lead. Wade again cut the lead to 1 with a driving layup, but after Derozan made 2 free throws, Joe Johnson missed on a 3-pter that would have tied the game, and the Raptors closed out the game with free throws. Whiteside and Valenciunas both left the game after being injured on separate plays and did not return.

The Blazers became the first team to beat Golden State twice this season, winning game 3 at home by 12 to move to within 2-1 in the series. The Blazers led by 12 after the first half and by as many as 20 in the 4th qtr. Their lead would have been larger if not for Draymond Green's 19pts in the 3rd qtr, on his way to 37pts, 9reb, 8asts. He also had a career high 8 3-pters, but would be overshadowed by Lillard who also had 8 3-pters on his way to 40pts with 10 assists. Lillard has now scored 40, 40 and 51pts against the Warriors when playing at home. Thompson had 35pts including 18pts in the 1st qtr, and along with Green became the first pair of teammates to score at least 35pts since Westbrook and Durant did it in 2011.
