2013 NBA Playoff Round 2 - Game Day 5

CHI (5) @ MIA (1) – Game 3

Miami regained home court advantage by beating the Bulls by 10pts on the Bulls’ home floor. After game 2 which was full of technical fouls, game 3 would continue to be a slugfest as the tone was set after neither team shook hands before the game. Early in the 2nd quarter, Lebron was given a 2-handed shove by Bulls’ Nazr Mohammed after a dead ball, earning him an ejection. The Bulls picked up two technical fouls, and the Heat one.

The game was close throughout, with the Bulls only down by 2 with 4min to go. Heats’ Cole and Lebron each hit a 3-pter, with Lebron giving the dagger with a 3-pt play. Lebron struggled from the field early, and was blocked on a fastbreak layup by Nate Robinson. He finished with 25pts, 8reb, 7ast, including 12pts in the 4th quarter. Bosh added 20pts and 19reb, and bench player Norris Cole shot 6-of-7 from the field, hitting all 3 3-pters and tying his playoff high of 18pts (his second straight). Cole has hit his last 7 3-pters, and is 16-of-20 from the field in this series.

Bulls’ legend Scottie Pippen attended the game and presented the game ball before tipoff.

Quote from Bulls’ Nate Robinson:
"Nazr is a quiet guy. It's the quiet ones you have to worry about."

GSW (6) @ SAS (2) – Game 3

The Spurs also regained home court advantage by beating GSW by 10pts, giving Golden State its first home loss in the playoffs.  Golden State’s raucous crowd reached noise levels of at least 110 decibals (as loud as a power saw), but the experienced Spurs were still able to win on the road.

Tony Parker had 25pts (11-of-14 from the field) at the half, including a ridiculous flip bankshot whilst falling down from a foul, and finished with 32pts, 5reb, 5ast. Tim Duncan added 23pts, 10reb. Duncan received a technical foul for shoving Andrew Bogut, after being dunked on by Bogut. Spurs’ coach Popovich made good on his quote that Curry and Thompson would have an off-game, as each scored only 16 and 17pts respectively. Curry, who injured his ankle in the last series, injured his ankle again with around 5min to go, but would stay in the game. He is questionable for game 4.
