OKC (1) @ MEM (5) – Game 4
Memphis won at home to take a 3-1 series lead over OKC in overtime. 2 years ago, Memphis was up 2-1 against OKC, blew a large first half lead and lost the game (in 3 overtimes) and eventually the series to OKC. In this game, the Thunder lost their leads of 17 at the half, and 12 in the 3rd quarter, as Memphis rallied for the 3-1 series lead after one overtime. The Thunder shot 54% from the field in the first half, but only 37.5% in the second half. KD scored on a layup with 10.9sec left in the 4th qtr to tie it at 94-94, and Grizzlies’ Randolph had his fadeaway jumper blocked by Serge Ibaka on the other end at the buzzer, sending the game into overtime. OKC only scored 3pts (1-of-8 field goals) in overtime.
Kevin Durant scored 27pts, and is the current scoring leader in the playoffs. However Durant (still without Russell Westbrook) played 48min and struggled on 2-of-13 field goals in the 4th qtr and overtime.
Memphis’ Mike Conley scored 24pts, Zach Randolph had 23pts, 12reb and Marc Gasol had 23pts, 11reb, 6blk.
Memphis is undefeated at home in these playoffs, and have won 19-1 at home dating back to Feb 8. Memphis lost game 1 to OKC, but have since won 3-in-a-row by 6pts each, and have also won 7 of their last 8 playoff games. The Grizzlies have also won the game 11 times after trailing by at least 17pts (dating back to 2009-10), the most in the NBA since that time. Memphis has a chance to progress to the Western Conference Finals with a game 5 road win against OKC – last year’s Western Conference champions. They have only won 2 playoff series in their (short) history – the Grizzlies team used to be in Vancouver.
